Native Place is visited by people from all walks of life from India and across the world. Nature enthusiasts, bird watchers, paragliding pilots, solitude seekers, corporate groups, weekend getaway seekers and many more come to Native
Place all around the year. There are many who return to this little guesthouse year after year, just like Kamshet’s gorgeous host of migratory birds. And here’s what some of them have to say about their stay at Native Place:

The Native Place" is an easy two hour drive from Mumbai. Visitors have to navigate a gravel road once you turn off the main highway, which simply serves as a reminder that they are entering a peaceful sanctuary away from the congestion and pace of urban living. With variety of plants, welcoming hosts Astrid and Sanjay, fantastic home made Maharashtrian food, well disciplined helpers, the setting of The Native Place, could not have been more uplifting.........We want to thank you guys very much for your great hospitality, making our stay with you a wonderful country-farm experience

I first stayed at Native Place in 2004 while doing my beginners paragliding course. Initially, totally high on paragliding, I thought of Native Place as accommodation for the course , interesting but just accommodation. Pretty soon however I began to see it differently and it’s taken up an identity of its own. It’s a home to come back to, a place to catch up with old friends and make new friends –a pile of them every time I am here. A place for interesting get-togethers on the terrace or around a bonfire, a place for curling up with a good book in a quiet nook, for heated discussions on life universe and everything or a quiet word on techniques with a meditation master.

For meeting up again with the sunbirds amongst the flowering creepers on the many trellises. A place to charge up my batteries to face up to the next eleven months or so, until I am here again. A place to come back to again and again.

Native Place, as the name suggests, gives you the feeling of being back home. The idyllic surroundings and relaxed pace help you hit that much-needed 'Pause' button in an otherwise fast-forward life. You can spend hours gazing up at the starlit sky, swimming in the nearby lake or simply lounging around in one of the hammocks. What will keep you coming back for more is the incredible warmth of the entire Nirvana team and the many interesting conversations you're likely to have with fellow guests.

Native Place is the most perfect getaway from the crazy city hustle. A whole bunch of us went there for the weekend and by the end of it none wanted to return! Amazing hosts, delicious food, staff who go out of their way to make your stay special and comfortable, a lake to yourself and simply immersing yourself in nature. For anyone who wants to be cocooned in absolute bliss this is the 'perfect' place. My most favourite memory will always be "Butterflies, Starry Skies, Fireflies" Can't wait to come back there. Thanks you guys. I'll see you soon!

I have been escaping to Native Place every chance I get for years now! Thanks to Astrid & Sanjay, each time I go, there is something new to see in the garden, nooks/corners/benches to explore and gorgeous home-cooked meals to savor. The changing season brings out a different side of Native Place making each visit unique. Days are best spent in the hammock bird-spotting or with Nirvana Paragliding at the site watching gliders soar. Just a few refreshing days there and I’m ready to brave the city until my next escape

I got introduced to Native place because of Nirvana Paragliding in 2009, but exploring native place took much longer than just one visit.
With so much indigenous trees, plants and birds at Native place along with Astrid to freely impart all her knowledge about them, visit to Native place always is an enriching experience.
The vibe of the place and its people is definitely pure, calming at the same time energetic and all its facilities ensure a comfortable stay.

I was introduced to this place through my brother and then there was no looking back. My friends and I visit this place regularly to just relax and get that awesome break with nature. I love painting and hence i see & describe a place in different colors. Whenever i want to experience and feel the depth of colors , Native place helps me visualize all of that. Different shades of greens, reds and yellows in the garden crafted and created by Astrid (which is a pure art), shades of blue in the sky and then there is that lake where you take a dip and feel at peace. I think i go to Native place more for that dip in the lake I love this place for the amazing outdoor experience it provides, be it sleeping in the open under the tree or taking a dip or just staring at the fireflies in the night forming a pattern around a tree (that’s the most beautiful thing i have seen) . It’s a native place for me where I can reach in 2 hours.

Though I was introduced to Kamshet due to my husband’s love for paragliding it soon became my favorite drive. Nirvana’s Native Place is the perfect place for a relaxing weekend. I love getting up to the chirping of birds, fresh air and some seriously delicious food.
Native Place has an uninterrupted breath taking view of mountains with a lake nestled below it. There are half a dozen hammocks inviting you to lie down and laze. Just checking out the many varieties of plants and trees on the nature tours can take half a day and while doing that you are sure to stumble open some rare bird species. The place is a treasure trove of them and a complete delight for a nature lover like me. And if is it is raining then one must go hunting for the waterfalls.

In evening freshly barbequed delicacies are served hot, right out of the tandoor. Since breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in a common area, I met a lot of interesting people who are now close friends. Though I have now been going there regularly for almost 5 years, I discover something new every time. And the quest continues

I am a paraglider pilot and have lived in Mumbai, but am not originally from India. Native place was my place of escape from the city. I would go there nearly every weekend during the flying season and it is a great place to chill from the stress of the city and work. There is always a homely welcoming environment whenever you turn up and it makes you feel like it’s your home too. There is always a vibrant mix of people from all over the world who come to fly there or are coming from parts of India to relax. There is always a good atmosphere of friendly people on the roof terrace enjoying a chilled beverage in the evening or there are other areas of the house or garden you can relax in peace in. Native Place is my calm in the bustle of India.
