ACTIVITIES - School Trips
Native Place is an ideal place for conducting Field Trips. It is a perfect place for children to connect with nature and interact with plants, insects and birds. Our Field Trips are designed to offer children a chance to understand scientific
observation, outdoor exploration and creative expression by using experiential nature games, songs, stories, art projects and treasure hunts in the natural bounty of the Native Place Garden.
Native Place offers a range of programs for students, teachers, and organizations. Each program is customized to meet the needs of your group, and uses adventure activities to promote community, character, and achievement.

1) Adventure Day at Native Place

Enjoy a day out in nature with adventure activities, exciting games, a nature trail culminating in a treasure hunt – all designed to keep the excitement and the energy going.
Adventure Activities:
Rappelling, Low Ropes Course, Flying Fox and Tree Climbing
Experiential Learning:
Sensory Nature Games, Treasure Hunt, Team Games and Nature Trail (in the native place garden)
Cost: INR 1500/- per head for a minimum group size of 30 for a day picnic.
Meals: Veg and Non-veg

2) Birds and Habitats

The Native Place Garden is the perfect place to watch and interact with a variety of birds. By introducing kids to birding you’ll be giving them a lifetime ticket to the theater of nature. In this program children learn how to recognize a variety of birds that they may see in their backyards. This is an outdoor program with many fun activities and challenge including the great backyard bird count, bird skits and quizzes.
Activities:
Basics of bird watching, common birds in your backyard, who-lives-in-this-tree game, color-your-bird, identifying bird sounds, birding calendar for your school, nature trail and tracking bird habitats and watching lake shore birds.
Adventure Activities:
Tree climbing and jumering.
Educational Activities:
Using a field Guide, identifying bird species, exploring habitats and observing birds as indicators.
Experiential Learning:
Tracking and stalking, bird related treasure hunt, flock lessons - team games, nature trail (in the native place garden)
Art Project:
Color your bird, birding Calendar for your school and make a bird box / bird feeder / bird bath..
Major Attraction:
Getting up close and personal with the birds at Native Place, you will be able to identify at least 5 to 6 new birds. You will be motivated to start a birding club in your school. Native Place will continue to mentor online each child who takes up bird watching as a hobby.
Meals: Refreshments, lunch, tea and snacks (Veg and Non-veg)

3) Native Trees / Getting to Know Trees

We have a remarkable selection of indigenous trees in the Native Place garden and are eager to share the wonderful stories and myths that surround them. Our participants will spend a day in the garden getting to know these indigenous trees, appreciate their value and their uses. They will learn tree identification using sensory games and will experientially explore the relationships between plants animals and their habitats.
Activities:
Indigenous tree trail, tree identification, seed dispersal and pollination, meet a tree and other sensory nature games, tree imagery, trees and culture and the importance of a single tree.
Adventure Activities:
Tree climbing and jumering.
Educational Activities:
Tree identification, indigenous trees, trees in culture and importance of conserving trees.
Experiential Learning:
Meet-a-tree sensory nature games, who lives in a tree, tree imagery, tree silhouettes, tree-based treasure hunt and tree specific nature trail (in the Native Place garden).
Outdoor Activities (On Your Own):
Plant a tree, frisbee, volley ball and cricket.
Art Project:
Bark rubbings, leaf rubbings and stamps, and tree poster to take back to school.
Major Attraction:
Trees have inspired man for millions of years. They have been worshipped and given sacred importance. Getting up close and personal with the trees at Native Place – you will come away on familiar terms with a number of indigenous trees. Native Place helps you stay connected with the trees and the seasons by posting information on flowering, leaf shedding, and other milestones as the year unfolds and motivate you to start a tree appreciation club in your school.

4) Eco-friendly Native Place / Green buildings and Green Living

Native place prides itself as a model of sustainability and eco-friendly tourism. Explore the Eco – friendliness of the Native Place Guesthouse and Garden in its various aspects - architecture, energy, water, waste, organic farming, biodiversity, permaculture concepts and the basics of a healthy garden habitat.
Activities:
Exploring elements of good design, traditional design concepts, going off the grid, grow what you eat, identifying medicines from the garden, inviting pollinators and beneficial insects and birds to the garden, recycling, compost making, use of native plants, garden biodiversity, native tree species, medicinal plants, attracting birds and butterflies and more.

Begin with a nature trail of the house and garden, highlighting the eco-friendly features and then go on to inspect each element that contributes to sustainability.

Tree climbing and low ropes course - back in time simulation.
Educational Activities:
Making organic pesticides, elements of good design, brewing compost tea, elements of a healthy backyard habitat, and growing flowers to attract the birds and the bees.
Experiential Learning:
Tree diversity scavenger hunt, certify a backyard habitat, eco-friendly theme treasure hunt, and biodiversity trail (in the Native Place garden)
Art Project:
Clay and pottery, and make a leaf rubbing
Major Attraction:
The Native Place guesthouse is a model eco-friendly venture based on principles of sustainability and inspired by the homesteads of peninsular India. Native Place gives children and adults a chance to experience a way of life that is steeped in connection to nature. This visit is designed to share and appreciate this disappearing way of life.

5) Nature Skills Overnighter: 2D/1N

Learn how to keep your nature connection 24/7 regardless of where you may travel. Explore the natural world and learn the basics of outdoor survival. Aimed at getting you to feel a sense of comfort in nature, as well as the ability to spend time safely in the outdoors, the program touches on how not to get lost, to find food, make a shelter, judge the directions, understand the hazards. Enjoy a wonderful mix of nature awareness and outdoor survival skills.
Activities:
Field Observation: Sound map, eagle eye
Wildlife Tracking: Fox walking, edible and medicinal plants
Wilderness Survival and Outdoor Living Skills: Shelter building, fire making, understanding hazards, basics of bird language, nature trails, treks and treasure hunt.

A highly experiential program where participants spend most of this two-day period in the outdoors. We use exciting nature games like eagle eye and tracking as well as PPTs, fun work sheets and other learning aids to give children the tools to deliver concepts.

Tree climbing, rock climbing, trek and treasure hunt
Educational Activities:
Using a field guide, edible and medicinal plants, bird and animal species, habitats and bird language.
Experiential Learning:
Tracking and stalking, technical treasure hunt, predator and prey - team games, eagle eye, sound map, orienteering track, making a fire, making a shelter and outdoor cooking.
Art Project:
Journaling, poster on hazards / edibles, and make a bird box / bird feeder / bird bath.
Major Attraction:
This two-day program helps you dispel fears of being in nature, gives you the tools to slow down and tune your senses and create a nature connection toolkit that goes with you everywhere. Learn how to keep your nature connection 24/7 regardless of where you may travel.
Meals: Refreshments, lunch, tea and snacks, dinner on day 1, and breakfast, lunch, tea on day 2, (Veg and Non-veg)
Arrival: 10:00am on day 1
Departure: 5:00 pm on day 2
Accommodation: International dorm style accommodation and tents
Cost: INR 4200/- per head for a group of 20.

6) Team Building Day

A variety of team building and problem solving activities, which encourage the students to plan, communicate, work together and stay motivated throughout a series of fun-filled challenging activities. Our team building activities provide staff with great insight into the behaviours of students outside the classroom environment and enable all students to have the opportunity to excel. It allows students to strengthen many skills required by them as they work towards qualifications and careers.
Team Building Activities:
Our programs are led by skilled instructors who have extensive training in their field. The day starts with a presentation on effective team work and explains how the day will run. The group is then split into teams of 10 people and the team leader selects their first challenge from the hub board. The team must then work together to complete the challenge. The team is then scored by their leader on 5 key areas relating to team work, before the team picks another challenge.
Adventure Activities:
Tight rope walking, balancing act, low ropes course, rock climbing and trek.
Educational Activities:
Effective team work, teamwork in nature, and effective communication.
Experiential Learning:
Technical treasure hunt, team building and problem solving activities - mohak walk, wild woozy, alligator crossing, tee pee shuffle, port hole, spiders web, swinging log and more.
Meals: Refreshments, lunch, tea and snacks, dinner on day 1, and breakfast, lunch, tea on day 2, (Veg and Non-veg)
